Abstract: This 37 page paper is an examination of the influence of potential threat of terrorism to the way in which the financial industries are managed, with specific attention to the accounting profession. The paper looks at the concept of terrorism, defining what it is and the way it takes place, examining the potential reliance on capital flows and how this impacts on the financial industries. The paper then moves on to examine strategy that is being put in place to try and prevent capital flows facilitating terrorist activities, incorporating discussions on guardianship, money laundering and the problems of detecting funds for terrorism.
