Children today are not developing the necessary skills needed to function within the contemporary global environment, a reality that has become a multifaceted societal problem facing developed countries world wide and affecting every social class. The nature of such an expansive dilemma, which gives rise to the detrimental impact accelerated technological progress has upon appropriate childhood development, is wholly attributable to such psychologically distancing activities as Internet chatting, phone texting, watching television and playing video games.
