Mikhail Gorbachev's Role in the Fall of Communism

Abstract: An 8 page paper discussing the contributions of Glasnost and Perestroika to the breakup not only of the Soviet Union, but also that country's control over satellite governments. Many of aspects of Glasnost led to the ultimate fall of Communism, such as the new freedom to assemble and speak freely and the rise of nationalism around the country, but it also was affected by aspects of Perestroika in that people could discuss events and how they affected individual lives.
