Abstract: 15 pages on the U.S. Marshals history, primary functions, and major problems faced by this branch of Federal law enforcement today. Discussed details the fact that the Marshal's service houses the country's largest detention population and has consequently experienced problems with bedspace and other provisions. Some programs being introduced to help remedy this problem are explained as well. A number of useful statistics concerning budgeting and finance are included and the writer argues all points analytically. Bibliography lists 12+ sources.
