Violence, Society, and The Media

Abstract: In this thought-provoking 8 page essay, the writer tells us that as violent as some contemporary presentations have become, we cannot point an accusing finger nor blame today's society for it is far from unique -- Even two thousand years ago, Greeks & Romans sat in Coliseums and cheered as one opponent brutally slayed another. All that has changed today is the media through which we view such violence. Art is but an imitation of life and we must therefore acknowledge that as frightful as it may seem, television and movies are definitive art-- and the violence they are depicting is but an imitation of life.
