St. Bernard And Abbot Suger And Art

Abstract: A 4 page paper. Abbot Bernard of Clairvaux and Abbot Suger of Saint-Denis were contemporaries who had vastly different opinions regarding the role of art in the Church and in churches. Bernard believed life should be austere while Suger's goal was to honor God by beautifying the church. This essay discusses each of these very devout men. Bibliography lists 5 sources.
