The Corning Glass Building

Abstract: 4 pages in length. Designers Harrison, Abramovitz and Abbe envisioned a modernistic building with an international flair when they set out to create the Corning Glass Building in New York City. Originally dubbed the Steuben Building for its original owner, the Fifth Avenue structure ultimately came to represent a significant transition that would eventually influence the very foundation of architectural design from that point forward. Europe had introduced the international style upon which the Corning Glass Building was constructed, lending an entirely diverse image to the brownstone that had heretofore epitomized a New York skyscraper.
