TV News Magazine Programs and the Impact of Nationally Televised Journalistic Bias

Abstract: This 15 page paper provides an overview of the basic premise of television news magazine programs like 20/20, Dateline NBC and 60 Minutes. This paper considers the issues that stem from journalistic bias in these programs, and the way in which these programs manipulate information, use language and create specific visual images in order to support a specific perspective on the stories they present. This paper argues that these kind of stories rarely take a neutral or positive position on a story and that they more often create a negative image, defined not only by the issues related by those involved, but by the views, personal perspectives and desire to draw viewers. Bibliography lists 15 sources.
