The Brain and Foreign Language: Acquisition

Abstract: 8 pages in length. Learning is the basis upon which human beings are able to experience mental and emotional growth; while some concepts are easier to grasp than others, this illustrates the extent to which brain function wholly dictates how and when a specific concept is permanently embedded. Foreign language presents myriad challenges where acquisition is concerned, inasmuch as it is not processed the same as learning one's mother tongue and, as such, often requires tremendous effort with varying results depending upon the individual's cognitive capacity.
