Work/Life Programs

Abstract: This is a 21 page paper that examines Work/Life initiatives and programs. The dramatic changes that have taken place in society over the last 20 years have forced organizations to reconsider the kinds of programs they need to offer employees. Today's worker is not willing to work 60 or 80 hours each week, ignoring family and personal responsibilities but it is the increase in women in the workforce that has really led to changes. Work/Life initiatives are now the benefit talented people look for when they consider working for a company. It is also these benefits that will keep employees at the company. This essay reports and discusses what Work/Life programs are, the variety of initiatives they may include, the resistance some companies still demonstrate, evaluations of programs, and model programs in effect. 2 tables and 2 graphs are included. Bibliography lists 35 sources.
