Lanford Wilson/Rimers of Eldritch

Abstract: A 3 page research paper/essay that discusses Lanford Wilson's play Rimers of Eldritch, which, on the surface, concerns a murder and a trial, however, this play encompasses much more than this, as it offers the audience a profile of the social systems and personal relationships that make up this extremely dysfunctional small town. Written in the 1960s, Wilson draws on the social upheaval of that era, but rather than making this play feel dated, it seems quite contemporary as it addresses issues of hypocrisy and self-righteousness in a town in America's Bible Belt. Bibliography lists 3 sources.
