The Deer Hunter: An Analysis of the Appropriateness of the Use of Violence to Emphasize the Amorality of War

Abstract: A 5 page consideration of whether movies such as "The Deer Hunter" err in using violence to emphasize the wrongs associated with war. The author contends that art has been used for centuries as a vehicle for political propaganda. The conclusion is reached that the use of violence such as that encountered in this film is a very productive, and acceptable, tool in presenting the amorality of war. Bibliography lists 3 sources.
