Eucharist As An Impetus For Social Change In South Asia: Dialogue With George M. Soares Prabhu

Abstract: 5 pages in length. George M. Soares Prabhu saw beyond what might be construed as the solely religious element of Eucharist - or communion - and embraced an entirely broad spectrum extension by applying its meaning to social change in South Asia. The extent to which Soares Prabhu (1992) attributes all of Jesus' actions toward the poor as practical application is both grand and far-reaching; that he "distinguishes their pedagogical features as identifying with the poor, active and affective concern" (Joseph, no date) speaks to the nature of his quest to remedy social poverty and appeal for spiritual deliverance.
