John Stuart Mill and Individuality

Abstract: The concepts of personal freedom, liberty and the pursuit of happiness are an integral component of the social system in the United States. It says so in the Constitution, it's taught in the history books and it's preached from political podiums. The people who are included in this social system are said to cherish their right to personal opinions and beliefs far more than other political systems. This 5 page paper asks and answers the question: To what degree is individuality incorporated into the system of democracy, according to the writings of John Stuart Mill.
