Abstract: 5 pages in length. Humanism is the right to live free and unencumbered by superfluous regulations and an overzealous government. Sir Thomas More recognized the need for such a society when he penned his classic 'Utopia.' Inasmuch as the prolific writer realized this need even during his own era speaks to the fact that there has long been discord between the quest for personal liberty and the crusade against authoritative compliance.
