Abstract: This 5 page paper relates the fact that One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest is a perfect example of how NOT to treat patients. The 1975 film addressed the issue of mental illness and the medical community's response. Though the conditions and patient treatment outlined in the film might have been standard practice in the 1960s, they are no longer acceptable methods of addressing mental illness or creating positive patient care.
