Frida Kahlo

Abstract: Mexican artist Frida Kahlo has only recently surfaced as a major international artist. The woman and her art have both become symbols of transcultural and feminist values. Being a woman who lived her life through the expression of symbols, Frida Kahlo has become herself a symbol representing many things to many different people. It is important to the process of coming to a personal interpretation of the woman, her life and her art that these things be viewed in the context of time, place and experience. This 6 page paper explores the meaning of the woman through her experiences, her art and her love of Diego Rivera. Bibliography lists 6 sources.
