Risk at Outpatient Surgical Centers

Abstract: A 5 page paper identifying and discussing a point of risk at outpatient surgery centers. Hospitals have long offered day surgery at the hospital, but these outpatient surgery centers are businesses totally separate from hospitals and even from doctors' offices. They can be found even in strip malls and can offer a wide range of surgical services. Recent studies indicate that these centers have the highest safety ratings of all possible sites where surgery is performed. Despite their high levels of safety, there still are risks that the centers need to address. One examined here is the availability of emergency care should complications develop during surgery.
