What Moral Duties (If Any) Do Humans Have Towards Animals?

Abstract: 7 pages in length. Those who believe animals do not have rights inherent to their existence are those who also believe that humans are the superior species. This arrogance toward the rest of the animal kingdom has done nothing but threaten man's very own existence, given the fact that myriad species have already been destroyed through his speciesism. In short, the moral duties humans have toward animals revolve around man's understanding of the conscious awareness these sentient beings possess. Bibliography lists 6 sources.
