Abstract: A 6 page analysis of Madeleine Biardeau's Hinduism: The Anthropology of a Civilization and Gavin Flood's An introduction to Hinduism. Both of these books have the same purpose-to give a historical and thematic survey of Hinduism; however, despite this similarity in purpose the books are quite different. Biardeau's book is quite scholarly and gives a more in-depth look at the particulars of Hinduism, however, Flood's book is much more comprehensible to the Western reader.
