U.S. Government / Community Or Individual Interest?

Abstract: 5 pages in length. The United States government has long been heralded as a system that works for the people. Individuals could rest easy knowing that governmental representatives were toiling away for their best interests. But that is not exactly true, particularly as it compares with it representing community interests over and above the individual. Henry David Thoreau noted the same discrepancy even back in his day with respect to the fact that government was driven more toward working for the community as a whole than for the personal interests of the people. The writer discusses whether the U.S. government is focused upon community or individual interests as it relates to Thoreau
