Abstract: An 8 page paper discussing both the personal and public life of Lyndon Johnson. Johnson was a unique man with many manly qualities, sometimes the worst of those qualities in appearance. He was in some ways truly an opportunist, and in other ways one of the most troubled and kind men the presidency has known. In discussing his life we examine two books detailing parts of his life. One book is titled 'The Triumph & Tragedy of Lyndon Johnson: The White House Years' by Joseph Califano, who worked alongside Johnson and had every opportunity to truly know the man, and the second book is titled
