Colloids and Crystalloids in Fluid Resuscitation

Abstract: This 8 page paper considers the case fir the use of colloids and crystalloids in fluid resuscitation, examining the evidence to determines which fluid is best resulting in the lowest mortality rates. The paper looks at the general uses, such as trauma and injuries before undertaking a more in-depth consideration of surgery such as coronary artery bypass graft patients where there may be contra indication to the general population due to the cardiac indexes. The paper concludes with a policy recommendation. The bibliography cites 15 sources.
