Alcoholism affects many more people than just the one who drinks; the impact alcoholism has upon immediate family, friends and coworkers can be just as much -- if not more -- burdensome than the influence it has on the alcoholic. Children of alcoholics are particularly prone to feeling the damaging impact inherent to alcoholism, which can set the stage for a life of alcohol-related behaviors and disorders.
