Substance Abuse in Older Adults

Abstract: A 17 page paper examining the problems of alcohol and drug abuse in adults over the age of 60. Though increasing numbers of aging baby boomers may usher in the occurrence of many more cases of abuse of illicit drugs, currently it is prescription drugs and alcohol that cause the greatest number of substance abuse cases among those over the age of 60. Some seniors become drug abusers unwittingly and insidiously, often through misuse of prescription drugs and lack of knowledge of the drugs
