Charles Darwin

Abstract: Charles Robert Darwin was a nineteenth century scientist whose ideas concerning the origin of man were in complete opposition to the dominant view of his era. The belief that man and animals were descended from an ancient form and not created by an omnipotent Being generated an entire shift in consciousness that may well have been the greatest force of change in the history of mankind. This 5 page paper provides a brief summary of Darwin's theory, relates the opinions of historians concerning his life and contribution and concludes with a brief look at why it is important to learn about the man and his times.
