The Effect of the Global Economy on Nation States

Abstract: This is a 12 page paper on the effect of the global economy on nation states. The international community has a great impact on the political, social and economic policies of the individual nation states. Nation states, in order to avail themselves of economic opportunities must consider the agendas of the global economic market. The international community and its affiliated global market have grown in recent decades as the age of technology, globalization and transnational corporations has arrived. Alliances of nation states such as the European Union (EU) have strict guidelines and international laws pertaining to economic, political and social policies. Nation states interested in becoming members of economic alliances must conform to the laws and policies expected. Economic opportunities are considerably more available to nation states that have a democratic political structure, recognize civil and human rights, have global economic considerations in addition to other international concerns such as environmental laws and restrictions. Nation states can no longer apply national economic policies without consideration of the global opportunities and alliances needed in order to prosper in modern day society.
