Knowledge of Linguistics and Its Impact on Understanding the Teaching of Language

Abstract: This 12 page report discusses both linguistics and language and the ways in which they interact for a language teacher. Because language is one of the most unique factors of human interaction, even the very process of being human, its study deserves to be thought of as a key component of understanding human cognition, personal relationships, and how society develops. It also offers a great deal of opportunities to those who teach language and the tools of language. The practice of linguistics is intimately woven into the teaching of language.
