Robert Browning/"My Last Duchess"

Abstract: A 5 page research paper/essay that examines Robert Browning's poem "My Last Duchess." This poem takes the form of an extended monologue. A duke is showing his art collection to an emissary, who has come to arrange a marriage between the duke and his master's daughter. The collection includes a portrait of the duke's first wife. What soon becomes clear is that the duke is a jealous, paranoid, egomaniac who had his "last duchess" killed because she did not worship him in a manner to suit his ego.
