WHITMAN AND WORDSWORTH: AMERICAN AND NON-AMERICAN POETRY

Abstract: This essay defines "American" poetry by comparing Walt Whitman's "Song of the Open Road" to William Wordsworth's "Tintern Abbey." The paper discusses what makes Whitman's poem uniquely American, and how it differs in style, composition and tone from Wordsworth's work. Bibliography lists 2 sources.
