Richard II

Abstract: 5 pages in length. Richard II was not the most popular of British monarchs, nor did he take the throne at a very opportune time. The combination of Black Death, an epidemic that took the lives of nearly one-half of the entire population, and Richard's inability to lead with any political prowess cost him the chance to regain a solid British stance under effective leadership. So bound by authoritarian rule was Richard that his unyielding reign soon set off a revolution that served to be the beginning of the end for this particular monarch's authority.
