Is the Canadian Supreme Court a Legal Actor?

Abstract: This 9 page paper argues that with the formation of the Charter of Rights the Supreme Court in Canada has become an active political actor. The paper considers the traditional separation of the powers, and the direction that influence may occur, and then considers the Supreme Court against this structure, before looking at the way the court is seen in the context of a wider society, and how the role of the judges has changed with this highly thought of charter. The bibliography cites 9 sources.
