Abstract: A 14 page paper. The history and founding of the League of Arab States, often referred to as the Arab League, are reported. The purpose and objectives of the League are outlined as are the founding member-states and the current membership. The writer then explains how the League works, including a description of the leadership. The results of one meeting are provided as an example of what happens at meetings. The writer then discusses the successes and failures of the League, including the ongoing conflict between Kuwait and Iraq. Finally, the writer discusses changes that are needed to improve the League's effectiveness. Bibliography lists 9 sources.
