Violence in the Southwest

Abstract: As society expanded, the use of aggressive force became more an accepted component of the substance of societal boundaries. The clash of ideas and the need for more space became the primary reasons given for violence against and between social groupings. The basic conflicts that were a part of family living became exaggerated and intensified the larger the group and the more distant the ideologies. Man has fought for land and "what he believes in" from the beginning of socialized history War, pestilence and taxes have been the vanguards of civilization from time immemorial. argues that violence has always been a part of the history of the Southwest, however, as the society has stabilized, war and unrest have decreased.
