Abstract: The concept of the 'nothingness' of self is one that allows for the transcendence of the empirical experience. This 7 page paper argues that Confucianism, Buddhism and Taoism all incorporate the idea of 'nothingness' as it pertains to an understanding of the a priori and in juxtaposition with the empirical.
