John Donne & Andrew Marvell on Love

Abstract: A 5 page essay that contrasts and compares John Donne's "A Nocturnal upon Saint Lucy's Day, Being the Shortest Day," and Andrew Marvell's "The Definition of Love." The writer argues that while both poems deal with the loss of a love, Donne's poem is the more desolate because his beloved has died, rather then merely separated from him, as in Marvell's poem.
