Olympic Athletes of East Germany (GDR) and the Psychology of Their Training

Abstract: This 9 page report discusses the fact that the many components of sports training are generally complicated and intense, and are even intensified for athletes competing for a place in the Olympics and then competing in the actual Olympics. The weight of an entire nation as well as their own personal expectations are tied to their personal excellence and effort. Not surprisingly, it is a psychological as well as physical challenge. This report looks at the psychology of the Olympic training received by East German or GDR athletes. Bibliography lists 10 sources.
