Comparison Of The Works Of Phillis Wheatley & Paul Laurence Dunbar

Abstract: A 10 page paper comparing the work and the outlook of the two authors. Phillis Wheatley traditionally is considered to be the first black American poet. Though Paul Laurence Dunbar was born nearly a century after Wheatley's death, the two share common traits other than their skin color. Dunbar was the first black American poet that was widely read and sold. That they were involved in the evolution of American literature at all is in itself amazing, even without the firsts in their lives and in their work. Bibliography lists 5 sources.
