Abstract: A 5 page poetic analysis which considers who the poem is addressed to, why the sonnet is an appropriate form for this poem, how the poet exploits the division between the octave and sestet to convey his meaning, how the special effects of caesura and enjambment contribute to its meaning, and considers John Milton's elegiac influence on the poem's structure.
