Sigmund Freud and the Aesthetics of Art

Abstract: A 5 page discussion of Freud's views on art. Notes his extensive personal collection of art from primitive cultures, art which in many cases was originally ceremonial in nature. Points out the discrepancy with Freud's fascination with this art and his disbelief in religion. Discusses the Freudian concept of revenants (repetition) and rhythm and points out the significance of each in art. Bibliography lists 4 sources.
