Accountability and Business Regulation in the UK

Abstract: This 5 page report discusses the relationship between accountability and business regulation in the United Kingdom. In short, regulations exist (ostensibly) to assure that organizations do the ethical and legal thing in their dealings with customers, other organizations, and the general public. Regulatory requirements are not put into place to assure that a bureaucracy is self-supporting and self-perpetuating but in order to either correct a wrong or prevent one from taking place.
