Abstract: This 7 page paper seeks to prove the hypothesis: In doubting the truth of every intellectual proposition, and conversely by transcending doubt simply through a belief in his own existence, Descartes shows the flaws in his methods. He requires that his methods be based on rationality and fundamental truth, but these are assumed by Descarte and subjective to his whimsy. In all, Descartes was only rationalizing truth for himself. Therefore, we must look at scientific inquiry based on Descartes methods as inherently flawed. Bibliography lists 6 sources.
