The Civil Rights Struggle and the Autobiographies of Piri Thomas, Elaine Brown, Mab Segrest, and Theresa Hak Kyung

Abstract: This 6 page report discusses the autobiographical works of each of these writers and then considers the narrative strategies employed in their processes of developing subjectivity. If subjectivity is truly foundation for the autonomous and creative aspects of human life as many writers, philosophers, and social theorists believe it to be, then it is also necessary to consider the realms presented by the writers in order to understand where they believe that the borders of subjectivity are blurred and often invisible. Bibliography lists 5 sources.
