Opposition to the Death Penalty

Abstract: This 6 page report discusses the issue of capital punishment and argues against it. From a purely theoretical perspective, one has to consider personal belief systems and moral concerns. After years of debate, most Americans now believe the death penalty is an appropriate punishment. However, the view presented in this paper defends the idea that life imprisonment is more appropriate since the death penalty has been shown to not necessarily serve as a deterrent to crime.
