Motivation: The Difference Between Structural Change and Working Harder

Abstract: 5 pages in length. Motivating people to change is different than motivating them to work harder, inasmuch as human beings are not programmed to readily accept variation. Most people are creatures of habit and do not like to alter their set routines; as a result, managers may likely find resistance to the new concept at first. Granted, those who are completely opposed to the idea and refuse to be a part will no doubt be removed from the mix altogether. In order to incorporate change with the least amount of resistance and the most enthusiasm, managers must approach the art of communicating as a positive aspect offering personal gain and opportunity.
