Assessment of Data in Relation to the Message of Bowling Alone

Abstract: A 7 page paper discussing Robert Putnam's book evaluating America's diminished attention to maintenance of social capital. We have become a nation of loners, of busy people who jealously guard the little "down time" we do have. The paper compares data collected in national surveys in 1974 and 1994 indicating that the decline is still increasing, and explores several options as to why that is so. Includes 2 charts. Bibliography lists 2 sources.
