Abstract: This 10 page paper argues that the French philosopher, Michel Foucault, is a modern representation of the ways in which women are viewed, especially from the perspective of the twentieth century when post modernism and post structuralism took form, by examining Michel Foucault's Discipline and Punish: The Birth of The Prison; Caroline Ramazanoglu's collection of essays in Up Against Foucault: Explorations of Some of the Tensions Between Foucault and Feminism and Madan Sarup's treatise on Post-Structuralism and Postmodernism.
