The Ambiguities in Verbal and Non-verbal Communications

Abstract: This 5 page paper considers the ambiguous nature of both verbal and non-verbal communication. This paper provides examples that can be utilized to demonstrate the way in which language is ambiguous and how this is also problematic in interpersonal communication and/or relationships. This paper suggests that increasing communicative competence and increasing our awareness can help compensate for problems that arise because of the ambiguities in both verbal and non-verbal communication.
