Abstract: A 6 page comparison of Franco Zeffirelli's 1968 film production of Romeo and Juliet with the 1996 version directed and produced by Baz Luhrmann. It concludes that Luhrmann's version, despite its faithful Shakespearean dialogue, is so far removed from Shakespeare's own world-view that it can hardly be called an interpretation of the play at all.
