Abstract: A 7 page paper discussing factors that have allowed TV to retain its uniqueness among media, assessed from the perspectives of Marshall McLuhan and Raymond Williams. The uniqueness of television is not now that it provides access to such a wealth of information. That was a feature of the past, but it has become a commodity in today's world. The uniqueness of TV resides in the fact that it is always available, and in any form the viewer wishes. Dedicated cable channels allow the viewer to arrange his own programming schedule. Television, now an "old" technology with the advent and growth of the Internet, remains a medium that retains its unique qualities for itself. Bibliography lists 6 sources.
